Planning for the future

Hello

When buying property abroad, it’s easy to forget about what might happen in the future. Very few people know when they are going to die, so it makes it even more important to plan for what will happen to your family and your estate when you do.

2 things that are very important to sort out are;

  • Ensuring you have prepared a ‘legal will’ so those who deal with your estate know what your final wishes are. The article below will explain in more depth.
  • Having adequate life insurance in place to cover debts, and to leave your family in a sound financial position.

We can help with both of these areas, so please give me (Dave Moore) a call to discuss on 01142852958 or 07738887555.

Making a Bulgarian Will

For anyone who’s been through it, sorting through the paperwork and soforth for a loved one is a really upsetting time. Sorting through the paperwork of a loved one who hasn’t put a will in place is even tougher and could leave family members in a position where they have little or no control over how assets, debts and liabilities are distributed.

Although many Bulgarian property owners may have a will in place in their own country, the content of the will has little relevance to the Bulgarian probate and property laws and as such to ensure your estate falls into the right hands in the event of death – it is essential you do 2 things;

  • Make a specific reference to the ownership of Bulgarian property in your Will in your home country.
  • Prepare a Bulgarian will to outline your specific instructions for your Bulgarian estate in the event of death.

If you are in a situation where you don’t have either a UK or Bulgarian Will in place, I can help you out. Please get in touch on 01142852958 or 07738887555. to discuss.

Re-registering your Bulgarian Limited Company

If you have set up a company in Bulgaria before 1st January 2008, you are obliged to register it again according to the procedure as per the Law of the Commercial Register. All companies registered at district courts before the date above, must be re-registered by 31 December 2010. After that time all district courts, at which the companies have been registered before 01.01.2008, will issue certificates for the non re-registered companies and will send them to the Registry Agency, which will cease their trading, appoint a liquidator, determine the liquidator’s remuneration and a term for the liquidation process. All the costs in relation to the liquidation process will be at the expense of the company. The members of the managing body will be responsible unlimited for the obligations of the company in relation to the liquidation process.

Ryanair announces flights to Bulgaria starting November 2010

Yes, you heard it right - Ryanair 'Europe’s Favourite airline' (according to Ryanair) have announced a new route between London and Plovdiv.

On the 4th August 2010, Ryanair stated in a press release (weblink) that from the 2nd November 2010, there will be twice weekly flights between London Stansted and Plovdiv. these flights start from £32.99 one way (inclusive of all taxes and charges).

Plovdiv is Bulgaria's second largest city rich with cultural heritage, ideal for city breaks, but most importantly for Holiday Home owners, it is within very easy reach (less than 90 mins) of Bulgaria's 3 main ski resorts of Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo which opens the market to even more budget travellers from the UK and can only increase occupancy during the ski season for many of those who most need it.
