Ryanair announces flights to Bulgaria starting November 2010

Yes, you heard it right - Ryanair 'Europes Favourite airline' (according to Ryanair) have announced a new route between London and Plovdiv.

On the 4th August 2010, Ryainair stated in a press release (weblink) that from the 2nd November 2010, there will be twice weekly flights between London Stansted and Plovdiv. these flights start from £32.99 one way (inclusive of all taxes and charges).

Plovdiv is Bulgaria's second largest city rich with cultural heritage, ideal for city breaks, but most importantly for Holiday Home owners, it is within very easy reach (less than 90 mins) of Bulgaria's 3 main ski resorts of Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo which opens the market to even more budget travellers from the UK and can only increase occupancy during the ski season for many of those who most need it.

Also within easy reach of Plovdiv are the regional cities of Gabrovo, Veliko Turnovo & Stara Zagora where many Brits have also bought rural retreats and apartments.

Ryainair, If you are listening - I hope this is the start of regular budget travel between the 2 countries. Ideally in the months and years to come there will be more flights, to more Bulgarian airports from more UK centres and they will be offered at very reasonable prices as appears to be your standard M.O.

Ryanair follows Easyjet and Wizzair to join the list of budget carriers scheduling flights to Bulgaria from the UK and the competition in the market is certainly a good thing as it gives travellers a choice of departure airports, and now also provides choice of destination. If only we can get £50 flights to Burgas and Varna on a daily basis out of one, two or all three of them from several UK cities - the property owners will have something to cheer about.

So congratulations Ryainair for taking the first step into the picturesque and beautiful country that is Bulgaria. We wish you prosperity, longevity and expansion on your Bulgarian exploits.

Who should manage and let my Bulgarian property for me?

Written by Dave Moore

Who should manage and let my Bulgarian property for me?

Whilst on the face of it, this is a fairly competitive market, there really aren’t many companies out there who understand the needs of the British or Irish Consumer.

I have regularly heard from my clients that they need someone to look after their property with a complete ‘hands off’ service. Whilst maximising rental yield is important, great service is equally so and someone taking all the hassle away from them can be worth their weight in gold.

Simon Tweddle, Director of ‘Sim Property Group’ seems to have the answer.  His company offers the following core services;

  • ‘Hands off’ property management service to stay on top of all bills and issues which arise through owning foreign property (rates from €25/ month)
  • Commission only letting fees for holiday properties specialising in Bansko & Sunny Beach (rates from only 20%)
  • Long term rentals in Sofia
  • Property resales in Sofia & throughout Bulgaria
  • A unique approach to marketing ensuring web traffic is maximised

Property investment - Lessons Learned? Tips for the future?

If this was your first try at property investing, don’t beat yourself up about it. If it wasn’t for such a financial crisis which apparently so few people saw coming it’s quite possible you wouldn’t have lost any money at all. Furthermore, you weren’t the only person to invest in Sunny Beach or Bansko between 2005 and 2008 – literally tens of thousands of British and Irish folk all thought they would make themselves a fortune. Please remember, many people have made millions from investing on property between 2005 & 2008, they just used a bit of a different strategy.
